Boltaction - Great war pt:5

As we inch closer to a working WW1 ruleset we continue to the campaign, with the French now attacking. A skirmish in No Mans land developed as German scouts met a French counter attack, Scenario we played this game was 'Meeting engagement' won by Kill points, both forces started off of the board except snipers and observers.

I painted an A7V for the upcoming 1917/18 campaign.

Played a card that gave me an better artillery barrages, whilst the French played a card allowing a veteran unit to outflank and 3 Units to make a free run move before the battle began (units in picture are not setup yet)

I kept a Veteran Rifle squad, Stormtrooper squad, a Rifle Grenade and LMG squad in reserve. The French Kept an Inexperienced and Veteran Rifle squad in reserve.

Turn one the French pushed hard up the board, wiping out my forward observer squad with their mortar they were able to run up using their special scenario card.

Turn 3 the Inexperienced Rifle Grenade squad killed my Mortar team with an exceptional damage roll.

Top of turn 3 the Germans were able to kill off the French Mortar team with disciplined rifle fire.

The MMG and Rifle squad fired on the French Regulars putting pins on them before they rallied turn 4.

The French Medic working overtime to save the troops.

The French Flamethrower arrives and kills 3 men, the Landser hold their nerve, FOR KAIRSER AND FATHERLAND!

Turn 4 the artillery fire arrives pinning down the German centre, Riflemen are ordered to charge but fail on a roll of 11! The Flamethrower team goes down after rifle fire from the Stormtroopers.

Turn 5 the Landser bouy'd by support from the Storm troopers charge and capture the Flame thrower team.

The Riflemen pour more fire into the Flank of the French attack alongside the LMG team.

The French move turn 6 to engage the Shrinking riflemen.

The French are now caught in a cauldron of German Riflemen and Machineguns.

Turn 6 the game ends with France losing 388 points and 4 order dice whilst the Germans lost 230 points and 2 order dice, a clear if not decisive German victory!
